Criminal Background Check

There are several reasons to perform a criminal background check. One is simply to determine what your criminal record is and whether you will qualify for an expungement as a result of doing a criminal background check. Another reason for performing a criminal background check is to determine what type of employees are working for you or what type of employees you are considering to hire. I had a friend whose employee was arrested for unlawfully videotaping minor girls as they undressed in his bathroom. Later, police found dvds of this man having sex with children that he had incapacitated. Of course, the news came to the my friend and wanted to know why he had hired a person like this. He had not performed a criminal background check.

Although a criminal background check may not have turned up anything on this employee if the employee had a clean record, at least my friend could have had a chance at knowing what this person was all about in the first place.

Criminal background checks may also be done as part of the rental application process. Landlords may wish to know more about the people to whom they are renting. In such cases, a criminal background check may save landlords lots of headaches by weeding out undesirables.
